Sunday! Next Collective Meeting & Community Space Organizing Meeting!

Arise! has been going through rough times (for real!) and will be closing in the near future. At our next collective meeting, we'll be talking about the things we need to do to close down our space: clearance sales, cleaning it up, communicating with the local and national communities that have relied on us, taking care of our debts to distributors (e.g., Slingshot), etc. We'll also be talking about a closing date, our open hours from now until we close, help with covering shifts, etc. And anything else we think of at the time.

Arise! Must Arise Anew: Community Forum & Potluck

Saturday, Feb. 13th, 4pm
Arise! Bookstore
2441 Lyndale Ave S
Minneapolis, MN 55405

After being in our current location since 1993, the Arise! Books and Resources Collective has come to the painful realization that we can no longer afford to operate in this space. Rather than letting the awful realities of capitalism tear us apart, we want to figure out a way to arise anew. A new form. A new location. A new way to continue serving and being part of the radical and progressive community in the Twin Cities.

Amazingly Awesome Holiday Sale & Fundraiser!!!

get your slingshots, books, crafty goods, and more! wow!

Yeah, that's right...your favorite radical infoshop and bookstore is having a holiday sale! Not to celebrate the rampant commercialism of the holiday season, but cuz we gotta keep our doors open somehow. So we're gonna have fun doing it!

WHAT: Holiday sale and fundraiser--15% off everything in the store...20% off for Friends of Arise!

WHEN: Saturday, December 19 and Sunday, December 20, 11am–9pm.

It gets better, though! On the 19th, we're also selling home-made baked goods starting at 11am and live music starts at 5pm!

Come hang out and listen to:

And while you're in the store, check out our latest publication, "Recipes for Radicals." This is a cookbook for food and actions to fuel our bodies and help us create the change we want to see. The recipes range from hummus to activist glue to vegan brunswick stew to dismantling rape culture.

Remember the Minnehaha Free State? Remember!

8pm: Discussion with Free State activists!
Sunset: FREE documentary screening!

Join us for a discussion with Free State activists about the urban occupation around Coldwater Springs to defend against the re-route of Highway 55, what's happened since then, and the struggles that continue.

We'll also be screening a recent documentary about the Free State--Stop the Re-Route: Taking a Stand on Sacred Land--at sunset in our backyard.

If it's raining, we'll do everything inside.
